Improv comedy's own Phoenix son, Jose Gonzalez, founded Monster Improv as his DIY avenue to connect with people, groups, and orgs so we can Do-It-Together. The "it" is creating positive change by making improv, comedy, theatre, storytelling, and all forms of performance more accessible to better reflect the world around us. Monster Improv believes that improv, comedy, and all forms of artistic and creative expression belong to everyone.

Achieving Monster Improv's goals will include (but isn't limited to) offering classes, shows, and events with sliding scale pricing as much as possible; collaborating with individuals, groups, and orgs that serve and spotlight traditionally marginalized voices; and empowering those from underrepresented backgrounds to take up space within improv, comedy, theatre, storytelling, and all of the performing arts. Justice, equity, diversity, and inclusivity are great and even necessary but Monster Improv wants to open things up so people who've usually been left out know that they are enough and don't have to wait to be invited in.

So, all of that but in a fun, playful, and meaningful way! RAWR!
