Urban Center Metropolitano è un’associazione autonoma che racconta i processi di trasformazione di Torino e dell’area metropolitana. È uno strumento di comunicazione, ricerca e promozione, oltre che un luogo di confronto e informazione a disposizione di cittadini, pubblico esperto e operatori economici. Nato nel 2005 grazie a un accordo tra laCittà di Torino, laCompagnia di San Paoloe l’AssociazioneTorino Internazionale, la sua missione è essere un punto di riferimento tra gli attori economici, sociali e culturali implicati nei processi di trasformazione della città. Organizza mostre, incontri, seminari, itinerari urbani per cittadini e addetti ai lavori; è capofila della rete italiana degli Urban Center e tra i fondatori della rete europea.La sede di Urban Center Metropolitano si trova in piazza Palazzo di Città 8f ed è aperta – con ingresso libero – dal martedì al sabato dalle 11.00 alle 18.00.

Urban Agencies have a role in supporting initiatives finalized to activate innovative ground-level actions. These are intended to facilitate the connection between different urban communities, actors and organizations to generate:
<OL>
<LI>interconnection and identification of common values and needs;</LI>
<LI>generate a policy community, stimulating active and pursposed behaviours relating to urban development</LI>
</OL>
Starting from the experiences developed by Urbannect (My City is My Home, Celebrating Communities, Vamos a la Playa, H33|Social Innovation Hub), participants will be stimulated to reflect upon new ways to achieve change in urban behavioring. The challenge is to identify a collection of actions that could effectively by applied to different urban contexts, in order to develop an international community of practices committed to change the way citizens act in their urban habitats.
