Overview

Navigating Value, Risk and Innovation in Insurance

FinanceMalta, in collaboration with the Department of Insurance and Risk Management at the University of Malta, is pleased to invite industry professionals to an exclusive evening event exploring one of the most pressing challenges facing the insurance sector today — how to translate evolving regulatory requirements into real-world value, innovation, and sustainable business models.

Taking place in an engaging and interactive format, this focused three-hour session will bring together leading experts from regulation, academia, and industry to discuss the future of insurance in an increasingly complex environment.

Why Attend?

As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve at EU level, insurers and intermediaries are under growing pressure to demonstrate value for money, strengthen governance frameworks, and respond effectively to emerging risks.

This event will provide:

  • Practical insights into how EU regulatory expectations are being implemented in practice
  • Expert perspectives from regulators, industry leaders, and academics
  • Forward-looking discussions on digital disruption, climate risk, and systemic challenges
  • Networking opportunities with key stakeholders, insurance practitioners, local and non-resident academics and international students

Event Highlights

The programme will feature two high-level panel discussions addressing critical industry themes:

Panel Session 1: Emerging Risks in a Digital and Uncertain World

Examining the impact of AI-driven underwriting, cyber risk, climate change, and the evolving role of insurance in strengthening economic resilience and sustainability.

Panel Session 2: From EU Regulation to Market Practice – Are We Delivering Value?

Exploring how firms are adapting to value-for-money requirements, product oversight and governance (POG), and the broader implications of outcome-based supervision — including the balance between compliance, profitability, and customer value.

Speakers

The event will feature distinguished speakers, including:

  • Senior representative from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA)
  • Leading insurance executives and subject-matter experts
  • Renowned academics specialising in insurance and risk management
