Tra gli anni Sessanta e Settanta anche a Parma furono sperimentati i primi tentativi di rompere gli argini di una società chiusa, escludente, giudicante per accogliere e restituire dignità e possibilità a chi non aveva voce in capitolo sul proprio destino. La Fattoria di Vigheffio, il Laboratorio 8 marzo, l’Azienda artigiana provinciale, l’Istituto Montagnana divennero per molte persone realtà alternative al manicomio e alle altre istituzioni totali e simbolo della possibilità concreta di uscirne. Una storia straordinaria, animata da alcuni amministratori come l’assessore provinciale Mario Tommasini, insieme a diversi operatori e operatrici del sociale e a studenti universitari, che ha posto le basi per la nascita di molte delle cooperative sociali che ancora oggi sono attive in città.
