L’artista visuale Matteo Valerio aprirà le porte dell’atelier svelando il suo approccio alla disciplina, la liturgia dei suoi processi metodologici, e le tecniche impiegate. Arrivato a Villa Filanda Antonini all’inizio di marzo, Valerio sta sviluppando un progetto di residenza della durata di due mesi che si concluderà con una mostra personale. Il progetto, in continuità con la sua produzione artistica precedente, è l’occasione per approfondire filoni di ricerca già tracciati. Interrogato in merito Valerio afferma: Il progetto per Villa Filanda Antonini si articola nei contrasti tra i processi artigianali e gli aspetti pragmatici degli ambienti industriali. Mi interessano le qualità rivoluzionarie dei materiali intrise nelle dinamiche in cui vengono prodotti, dello stile di vita di chi ci lavora e nel modo in cui reagiscono alla crisi ambientale. Durante l’evento i partecipanti avranno l’opportunità di apprezzare le qualità estetiche delle opere, e di comprenderne le implicazioni etiche.L’evento è libero fino ad esaurimento posti. La sua ricerca esplora la tensione tra pratiche artigianali e ritmo frenetico della produzione contemporanea, declinandosi sulla comprensione delle qualità evocative incorporate nei materiali i quali diventano contenitore e parte di una narrazione più ampia e in costante dialogo con la sua pittura. L’opera di Valerio ha un impatto immediato in cui le diverse sfumature dei segni pittorici vengono combinate trasversalmente e i tessuti, i pattern legati ai viaggi, l’uso del legno e del cemento, i pigmenti e le tinture naturali creano flussi materici raffinati e decisi e dal forte valore simbolico. E’ vincitore di premi italiani ed Internazionali tra i quali Art for the Environment by Lucy Orta e Fondazione Zegna, Mona Hatoum scholarship, The NOVA Awards, Fondazione Francesco Fabbri/Museo TRA Treviso, Premio Shanghai by Fondazione Garuzzo, Fondazione Paolo e Marlene Fresco, 99 Collettiva Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa, Progetto AIKU / Antica Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua.

Visual artist Matteo Valerio will open the atelier doors revealing his approach to the discipline, the liturgy of his methodological processes, and the techniques employed. Arriving at Villa Filanda Antonini in early March, Valerio is developing a two-month residency project that will conclude with a solo exhibition. The project, in continuity with his previous artistic production, is an opportunity to deepen strands of research already traced. Asked about this, Valerio says: I am interested in the revolutionary qualities of materials embedded in the dynamics in which they are produced, in the lifestyle of those who work in them, and in how they react to environmental issues.During the event, participants will have the opportunity to appreciate the aesthetic qualities of the works and to understand their ethical implications.The event is free while places last. His research explores the tension between craft practices and the hectic contemporary production, verging on the understanding of the evocative qualities incorporated in the materials that become a container and part of a broader narrative and in constant dialogue with his painting. Valerio's work has an immediate impact in which the different nuances of the pictorial signs are transversely combined and the fabrics, the travel-related patterns, the use of wood and cement, pigments and natural dyes create refined and decisive material flows with a deep symbolic value. He was awarded the Art for the Environment Residency by Lucy Orta at Fondazione Zegna, the Mona Hatoum scholarship, The NOVA Awards, the Fondazione Francesco Fabbri Premio TRA, Shanghai Prize by Fondazione Garuzzo, Art Reasearch project at Fondazione Paolo and Marlene Fresco, 99 Collettiva Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa, Aiku Project/Ca Foscari Foundation/Antica Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua.
