Desert Hives LLC

Desert Hives is a business dedicated to honey bee health, education, and advocacy. Amy Rogers, Desert Hives’ founder, is a NM Certified Beekeeper, has co-led the ABQ Beeks group, maintains hives for the NMBKA certified beekeeping program, provides teaching and mentorship, and is a regular speaker at local bee events. Amy also does statewide hive testing for NMDA, and nationwide hive testing for various research projects. She has also helped NMSU complete a honey bee research project.

Amy has a master's degree in social work, which has served her well while doing various community beekeeping projects. This includes working with Explora, the Youth Conservation Corps, Bernalillo County’s Grow the Growers program, Albuquerque Public Schools, and RFK Charter schools.
