About this event

Shibori Workshop with
"Herringbone" Gangi pattern tequnique.

Join us for a two-day workshop where you'll learn how to create your own textiles using Shibori techniques, a traditional Japanese fabric dyeing method often linked to tie-dye.

Technique:
Gangi Shibori is one of the basic and traditional patterns.
'Gangi' depicts the image of geese flying in formation in the sky.
This pattern is frequently used by the Japanese in fabric and architecture.
On the other hand, in Europe, it is called the Herringbone pattern, which refers to the shape of a fish bone. This highlights the different perspectives in describing natural forms :)

Indigo dye:
We will be dyeing fabrics using locally grown and produced indigo color from Amsterdam. Our indigo plants are cultivated in partnership with the Schooltuin in Amsterdam.

"Gangi Shibori"

is a Herringbone pattern created using needle and thread.

We have an indigo garden in Amsterdam where we cultivate indigo plants. From the leaves harvested from these plants, we produce indigo pigment for dyeing purposes.
