About this event

Discover the Brera Botanical Garden with us!

A Botanical Garden staff member will welcome us and tell us about the 300 different plant species included in the 5000 square meters of the garden.

Born under the Latin name Hortus Botanicus Braidensis, the garden was established by the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria in 1774, jointly with the Brera Astronomical Observatory which today is operated by the Institute of Applied Physics of the University of Milan.

The garden's works were originally overseen by Abbot Fulgenzio Vitman, who transformed the existing Jesuits garden to serve students of medicine and pharmacology. The garden was completely restored two centuries later, in 1998, after a long period of neglect and decay.

After the Botanical Garden, we will walk to the luscious Sempione Park together to have a cool aperitivo while we sit on the grass.*

*The walk and entrance to the garden are tortally free. Catering is on you :) We won't do the aperitivo in a bar, but in the open. You can bring your own blanket and snacks to accompany your fresh beer or spritz!
