Amenhotep III inherited Egypt at the height of its imperial glory. Like Louis XIV of France, he likened himself to the Sun, glorious in splendor and rule. This tour will explore his life, his monuments (including the famed Colossi of Memnon), the letters received from other kings, and how he set the stage for his son Akhenaten, the famous “heretic king”, to follow in his footsteps (and all the ways he and Akhenaten were not as different as they might appear).*****************
