About the lecture
Hed Mayner approaches fashion as a living form, where garments exist in constant dialogue with the body. His work is defined by generous volumes, fluid fabrics, and precise tailoring that respond to movement rather than constrain it.
Drawing from sacred traditions, military tailoring, and sportswear, Mayner constructs silhouettes that balance rigor and freedom, strength and vulnerability. His garments behave like animated structures — expanding, contracting, and shifting with the wearer.
In this lecture, Pitti Uomo 109’s Guest Designer reflects on the silhouette as a dynamic system, the relationship between body and garment, and how construction and tailoring can become tools for comfort, authenticity, and freedom of expression.

A shared project
Although presented as two separate lectures, The Designer & The Artist functions as a single conceptual project.
Together, the talks trace a common line: form as movement, identity as process, and creation as an unfinished state.
For anyone attending Pitti Uomo, these lectures offer a rare opportunity to step outside the fair and enter a space of thought, research, and critical dialogue — where fashion and art are not products, but questions.
