About the lecture
Operating between architecture and sculpture, Marc Leschelier challenges the idea of construction as a rational, finished act. His work focuses instead on instability, accumulation, and exposure, reducing architecture to a skeletal, pre-architectural state where forces, tensions, and fractures remain visible.
In this lecture, starting from Ancient/New Site — the site-specific installation presented at the Fortezza during Pitti Uomo — Lescherlier reflects on movement as a condition, identity as an unfinished process, and the role of art as a tool for social and spatial questioning.
Rather than producing monuments, his practice reveals worksites, fragments, and transitional forms — places where meaning is still being negotiated.
Why attend
- To understand architecture not as a finished object, but as a living, unstable system
- To explore how movement, identity, and space intersect in contemporary artistic practice
- To engage with a practice that deliberately rejects polish in favor of raw intelligibility
- To gain insight into the thinking behind one of Pitti Uomo’s most radical site-specific installations
- To experience a rare dialogue between art, architecture, and cultural theory during Pitti

A shared project
Although presented as two separate lectures, The Designer & The Artist functions as a single conceptual project.
Together, the talks trace a common line: form as movement, identity as process, and creation as an unfinished state.
For anyone attending Pitti Uomo, these lectures offer a rare opportunity to step outside the fair and enter a space of thought, research, and critical dialogue — where fashion and art are not products, but questions.
