From the center of Gaiole in Chianti we will follow part of the famous route of the cycling race "Eroica", accompanied by views of vineyards and oak woods.

We will walk in the enchanted atmosphere of hills and fortresses, one of the historical "Terzieri" of the "Lega del Chianti", for a real journey told in the medieval history, made of fierce battles between Siena and Florence, of castles/fortresses guarding the borderlines, of millenary churches and Gothic masterpieces with a decadent look, but also of hills kissed by the sun with incredible views on vineyards and ancient tower houses, places where nature and man contributed to create a heritage of incredible beauty.

We will continue among cypress trees and dry stone walls with a view that goes as far as Radda in Chianti and the upper Val di Pesa, until we reach the vineyards of Case di Sotto.

A steep but short climb will lead us to the castle of Vertine, a strategic defensive bulwark owned by the Ricasoli family, an extraordinarily preserved complex and one of the most enchanting places in Chianti.
