Big ideas tailored to your classroom!

Sometimes the latest developments in teaching methodologies can feel not only a little overwhelming but also so far removed from the realities of our classrooms that there is little we can do that's practical. At Cambridge we believe that every teacher should be able to incorporate new ideas and methodologies into the classroom they teach in, whether that is in Lower Secondary or Upper Secondary school, with 22 students or 35, mixed ability or all at the same level!

Join us for an action-packed day of brand new teaching materials, internationally recognised Teacher Trainers and most importantly a series of workshops on how to really bring some of the Big Ideas in English Teaching today right into the classroom you teach in every single day!

Event program:

08:30-08:45 Registration

08:45-09:30 Welcome + meet&greet with speakers & sponsors

09:30-14:00 Talks:

- Julia Starr-Keddle (Helbling English)

Try again. Fail again. Fail Better. Helping students develop the right skills

Good skills are the secret to success in language learning, but which skills are the right ones to practice? In this talk we’ll look not only at the four key skills but also new areas including viewing skills, digital skills and meditation.

- Deborah Ellis (Loescher Editore)

A Thousand Words

This talk will take a clever look at how we can capture and stimulate our students through somehting other than social media: art! We’ll explore the art of using art... and other images in literature and culture lessons to engage our students and help them grow.

- Sarah Ellis (Cambridge Assessment English)

Effective Listening

This talk will look at how we can teach listening skills, instead of just testing in order to help our students become more effective and confident in understanding and responding in English not only in tests but also in life.

- Olha Madylus (Cambridge University Press)

The speaking skill we've all been looking for: real English from the streets to the classroom

This talk examines how we can integrate the English which students encounter outside of the classroom, while travelling, online or in their favourite TV series, into our teaching and help them understand how and when these varieties of English can and should be used.

A free coffee break buffet will be provided, together with the opportunity to examine materials by the following publishers: Cambridge University Press, Loescher Editore, Helbling English.

With the participation of Cambridge Assessment English.
