Picturebook Illustration: a weekend to collaborate, experiment & discover.

Illustrator, theatre actress and writer, Laura Riccioli is here to support you:

1) create an illustration style that lights you up and focuses on your strengths,

2) learn how to sketch expresssive characters with studio work and observational drawing in the gorgeous Roman piazzas,

3) craft three illustrations that – like a theatre stage – bring the text to life.

By the end of the workshop you complete three core illustrations for your picturebook.

This gives you the creative clarity and the confidence to develop the rest of your dummy book, plus you can use them to present your project to an agent or publisher!

What to bring? Materials for sketching (sketching pad, pencils, eraser and sharpener), 2 or 3 of your favourite picturebooks, and a story or poem to illustrate. Optionally you can also bring some additional art materials you’d like to experiment with (e.g. watercolours, collage etc.)

What to expect? Lots of collaborative work and feedback, lots of experimenting and fun.
