About this Event

Description

We are delighted to announce the preliminary line-up for the 2019 International Workshop on Network Models in Statistics, Economics and Social Sciences (NET) that the Department of Statistics and Quantitative Methods (Università di Milano - Bicocca) and the Department of Mathematics for Economic, Financial and Actuarial Sciences (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore) are jointly organizing. As well-known, last edition has been hold in Trento in December 2016.

The aim of the workshop is to gather ongoing research on network models, algorithms and applications in the fields of Statistics, Economics, Finance, Political and Social Sciences.

Topics

Please find here below a non-exhaustive list of welcome topics:

  • Applications of network models in international trade, finance (banks, insurances, etc.), political systems, social actors;
  • Network structures and their outcome on systemic stability, resilience and contagion effects;
  • Algorithms for clustering and community detection in network data;
  • Calculation and application of centrality measures;
  • Dynamic network simulation, for example using cellular automata or partial difference equations;
  • New statistics for network analysis;
  • Inference and regression on network data;
  • Models of network formation and network growth;
  • Connections between game theory and network models.

Due to the very interdisciplinary nature of the workshop, formal contributions should stress their applicability, while substantial findings should suggest new directions of formal research.

Keynote Speakers

Participation

Participation to the workshop is free;

Participants are requested to register their partecipation in order to organize common activities (e.g. coffee breaks, social dinner, etc.). Registration will close on October 31, 2019.

There will be an informal dinner on November, 14 (at your own cost). Please express interest on the registration form.

Program of the Workshop

We attach the conference program:

Program

Please note that slight changes to the program could be made, so we kindly ask you to check it again online before the conference.

Venue and accommodation:

The congress will take place at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Largo Gemelli 1, Milan) on November, 14 and at Università di Milano – Bicocca (Building U7, Via Bicocca degli Arcimboldi 8, Milan) on November, 15.

There are a number of hotel options local to the Universities. We suggest to find an accomodation close to Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in the area Sant'Ambrogio-Cadorna (city center). This area is indeed well served by the Malpensa airport (via Malpensa Express) and by the metro (green line from the Central Staton).

Malpensa Express

Università di Milano – Bicocca can be reached from Cadorna or Sant'Ambrogio via metro (green line from Cadorna to Garibaldi and purple line from Garibaldi to Bicocca)
