Improving Tourist Mobility in Mediterranean Cities

EUROCITIES, the network of major European Cities, and UNIMED, the Mediterranean Universities Union, have the pleasure of inviting you to a breakfast debate on improving tourist mobility in Mediterranean cities. The debate is organised in the framework of the Interreg Med GO SUMP project, in cooperation the Interreg Med Urban Transport and Sustainable Tourism Communities.


Scope

Growing tourist flows and port traffic in Mediterranean cities have a negative impact on transport network capacity, air quality, city attractiveness and general quality of life. The aim of the debate is to present some of the innovative transport measures and planning strategies that are developed and tested within the Interreg Med Urban Transport and Sustainable Tourism communities, and also to discuss how the European instutitions - together with the national and regional authorities - can further support Mediterranean cities in addressing the impact of tourist mobility.

Panel

The panel will bring together representatives from the TRAN Committee in the European Parliament, the European Commission - DG MOVE, and selected experts and decision makers from the Interreg Med Urban Transport and Sustainable Tourism communities. The debate will be complemented by interventions from the City of Malaga, the Interreg Med Joint Secretariat and EUROCITIES.

Target audience

The breakfast debate aims to gather opinions, reflections and suggestions from EU institutions, representatives from Brussels-based institutions, regional and city liaison offices, academics, researchers and scientists from the Med area, networks focusing on transport and environment.
