About this event
Gender and the City: Perspectives from the Global South
Moderators: Saanchi Saxena; Sofía Rivera
Speakers: Shilpa Phadke (Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai); Sofia Zaragocin (Universidad San Francisco de Quito)
This DISTant Talk will be a conversation between two researchers doing ground-breaking work in the field of gender and urban studies in the Global South. We seek to put a variety of perspectives in dialogue, questioning the gendered division between private (reproductive) vs public space (productive), the colonial disconnection between body and territory, and discussing the various strategies of resistance to reclaim urban public space for all.
