FoTRRIS Final Conference: MIND THE R&I GAP
Event Information
Description
We invite you to join the Final FoTRRIS Conference and to get deeper knowledge and skills on the FoTRRIS approach to RRI!
The conference will present the lessons learnt and will share methods and tools on how to address glocal challenges.
Join us and find out:
- How to support the emergence of positive change at the local level;
- How to engage local stakeholders in transdisciplinary processes;
- How to set up a Co-RRI Competence Cell and more;
and take part in four interactive break-out sessions.
Please choose two break-out session to take part in from the list below:
- Break-out session 1: Valorisation of stakeholders’ contribution to Co-RRI
Tackling big challenges through Co-RRI requires the engagement of societal actors. But how can we valorise the expertise of these practitioners? Valorisation of R&I often uses monetary tools that create barriers for Co-RRI. If paid researchers use the unpaid expertise of citizen scientists, for instance, this raises ethical concerns. FoTRRIS explored an innovative way to address this kind of questions. Sharing and co-creating knowledge creates value. What if we capture that value in a specific currency and allow it to circulate freely for co-RRI? In this playful session Sander Van Parijs (Muntuit) and Nele D'Haese (VITO) will let you experience some of the possibilities of this kind of currencies. - Break-out session 2: FoTRRIS online co-creation platform
The FoTRRIS approach to Co-RRI includes a specific methodological framework, which combines a systemic approach to ‘sustainable goals’ with a cocreative process including various groups of societal actors. Does this sound complicated? FoTRRIS offers an online tool to help you become Co-RRI experts step-by-step. The tool both guides you through the various steps of Co-RRI and functions as a platform for exchange and mutual learning among Co-RRI practitioners. In this session you will explore this tool hands-on. Susana Bautista Blasco and Marlon Cárdenas (Complutense University of Madrid) will be your guides in CO-RRI cyberspace. - Break-out session 3: Policy recommendations for the transition of the R&I system
The UN Global agenda calls for all institutions to “join the partnership for the Sustainable Development Goals.” Addressing the global challenges of today indeed requires R&I institutions to join forces with societal actors for co-creating ‘responsible’ and inclusive knowledge and innovation. How can policies encourage the R&I system to embrace the concept and practice of CO-RRI?
In this session you will discuss the policy recommendations FoTRRIS came up with at regional, national and EU levels, taking into consideration the territorial dimension of R&I. The session will engage you in a reflection on some of these recommendations, including m: how they can best be brought onto the political agenda, what they require and where the potential bottlenecks may hide. Anett Ruszanov (ERRIN), Jelena Mazaj (CESIE) and Sandra Karner (IFZ) will explore this topic with you around tables addressing the regional, national and European levels. - Break-out session 4: Recipes for Co-RRI
To tackle big challenges, we need expert R&I. Yet, no specialist can claim to have the sole response to these ‘wicked’ problems. In the non-linear, unpredictable complexity of our world, a solution today may become a problem tomorrow, as antibiotics have shown us. Also, some technical solutions may be unacceptable to society, so R&I funds are wasted. Co-RRI empowers various societal actors to co-define desirable goals and to map out R&I that may get us there, taking into account the interrelation of various dimensions of the issue. In this session you will learn how Co-RRI can be done in practice, not as a cookbook recipe but as a creative cooking session. Anne Snick (FoTRRIS Advisory Board) will be your host.
WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE YOU AT THE CONFERENCE!
