By Designing Your Life Workshop

Overview

Collaborate with a community of life-designers. Architect a future where you thrive. Be inspired by Rome, city of perpetual transformation.

The most important project you'll ever design? Your life.

Join us in Rome for a transformative experience where you'll learn practical tools and methodologies to design a life where you thrive. Work with a community of supportive women and expert facilitators. Engage in immersive activities and meaningful conversations that illuminate new possibilities. All inspired by the Eternal City's timeless beauty and centuries of reinvention.

“Designing Your Life for Women” is a powerful, hands-on workshop experience where you will learn and apply the Life Design© method to your own life.

This innovative workshop gives you the opportunity to learn and practice ideas and tools contained in the NYT bestselling Designing Your Life, How to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Life - in the inspirational setting of Rome and in community with women who have come together with a common purpose and who will support you on this life design journey.

This is a highly interactive retreat filled with coaching, breakout sessions and hands-on work. You'll reframe dysfunctional beliefs, explore the social and personal narratives that shape us, and dig into design tools to increase your creativity and confidence. Throughout the experience, we will take moments to reflect and integrate what we are learning. We will also explore hidden corners of Rome together, and unwind over authentic Roman meals and wine. These carefully curated experiences are designed to catalyze your creativity and inspire new possibilities, just as they've done for artists and thinkers for centuries.

You'll come away with practical design tools to navigate life's challenges and envision future possibilities, a personalized roadmap for your next chapter, and a supportive community that continues long after the retreat ends.

What our past participants have to say:

"I am sincerely grateful for this amazing group who came together, and created a safe space for us to share honestly and provided fantastic insights throughout...if you can take the time to disconnect, it's a great opportunity to learn a process that you can use time and again in our ever changing/evolving lives." - Laura L., US

"The retreat was a thoughtful and incredibly inspiring combination of looking inward, learning, and being in wonder with the strong women in the room, plus the story of Rome, a city of change and innovation, and finally...seeing possibility in your future. A combination of wonder, and getting out of your head and into those first experiments." - Xenia A., UK

Susan Burnett, Facilitator and Co-Founder, DYL Consulting

Susan's design life started in high school when she learned to design and make her own clothes as there wasn’t a big budget for discretionary items in the Burnett household. In her first dream job -- teaching middle and high school kids – she innovated new ways for kids to learn and be curious again. Her love for design surfaced again with a Master’s in Instructional Design from Teachers College, Columbia University. When life intervened, she moved to take care of her mother and grandmother, which catalyzed a career change. Susan became the first instructional designer ever hired by Hewlett Packard to design and deliver next generation Corporate Training programs.

Susan has dedicated the last 35 years of her corporate career to designing for individual and organization transformation and growth. She held executive roles at Hewlett-Packard, Gap Inc. Deloitte and Yahoo!, where she led large-scale business changes, cultural renewal, employee engagement, and leadership development. She also led the effort to build Deloitte University – a center for leadership and culture.

Susan co-founded DYL Consulting with the belief that empowering people with the life design process, tools and mindsets can lead to new and healthier ways to work and live in this chaotic, unpredictable, and ever-changing world. She loves to create the space for collaboration and community, because wonderful things can happen when people generate insights for each other. She also loves to travel and explore, do NY times games with her honey, write poetry, weight lift and do Pilates, and be a fun Oma to her four grandchildren.

Community Manager: Barbara Balletta

Barbara is an Italian travel designer who specializes in sharing the undiscovered corners of Italy with her clients. She launched her travel design business in 2012 while living abroad, to help friends and her international network get more authentic exposure and a real sense of the places they were visiting in Italy. For our retreat she'll curate a set of dinners, rooftop apertivo, and cultural immersions that will stimulate our creativity and create experiences that will be the cornerstones of our community of life designers.

We'll come together in Rome's elegant Aventino neighborhood, a peaceful retreat from the hustle of the city center.
