About this event

The urgent need for a more sustainable industrial production model is nowadays evident not only to scientists but also to most citizens. The pandemic situation we are experiencing and the consequent stop of many industries and of traffic that has allows nature to recover part of its spaces in few weeks evidenced the urgency even more.

This innovation challenge will be to foster an industrial production to make use of renewable and/or of second-hand raw materials and reduce the dependency on petrol to more environmentally friendly growth.

In Europe, many people have been aware of this need for many years, and a lot of research activities are already ongoing to turn the modern industry and society.

In this framework, BBI-JU, a public-private partnership between the EU and the Bio-based Industries Consortium, is promoting the development of new processes and technologies to sustainably transform renewable natural resources into bio-based products, materials and fuels.

The idea of this workshop is to bring together actors of the industry, private and public research centres, as well of the University that are or would like to start working in bioeconomy and circular economy, to exchange idea and experiences and thus promote a fast track to a more sustainable industrial production.
