As part of Raw to the Surface exhibition and in collaboration with UAL Postgraduate Community I'm organizing a gallery tour and networking event for PG students across UAL interested in sharing a moment of interaction and discussion about the themes touched by the exhibition: the relation between materiality of the artwork and physicality of the human body in contemporary art and photography, new display modes in art and fashion.
We'll have a look at the works part of the exhibition as a starting point with a short introduction by me, Camilla Glorioso and Mark Goldby, with whom I collaborated for one of the work exhibited. We'll then open the discussion to all the participants, to share personal works, ideas and opinions and maybe build new collaborations!
Raw to the Surface is a project that investigates new ways of displaying and perceiving the female body and its material composition of skin and flesh, attempting to visualise the borders and limits between inside and outside.
The project is a tactile and interactive experience and it aims to provoke the viewer through an interactive happening to comprehend the beauty of non-digital, un-retouched bodies.
