Le questioni di diversità, inclusione ed esclusione sono molto presenti per tutti noi nei nostri contesti socioculturali e politici. Apparteniamo tutti a un’ampia varietà di gruppi sociali relativi a razza, sesso, sessualità, classe, età, background educativo ecc.

In tutti questi gruppi possiamo vedere modelli di Potere, Oppressione e Privilegio.

Le dinamiche di uso inconscio del Potere, se non affrontate, diventano parte delle nostre interazioni quotidiane e nelle nostre relazioni si attiva un processo di oppressione esterna ed interna.

Uno dei motivi per cui il razzismo è un argomento doloroso e difficile da affrontare, è perché porta dentro questioni storiche come la schiavitù, il colonialismo e diversi conflitti interrazziali accumulati nel tempo. Dobbiamo essere disposti ad andare oltre le nostre zone di comfort e imparare a mantenere la tensione razziale in uno spazio sicuro.

Vieni a cocreare insieme lo spazio! E ricorda che potrebbe non essere agevole, ma siamo tutti necessari nel viaggio per imparare a convivere bene l’uno con l’altro.

In questo Training Esperienziale ci concentreremo sulla Razza, consapevoli che molte altre forme di oppressione possono essere viste attraverso la lente del razzismo.

Accogliere e prendere parte alle conversazioni tra di noi sulla razza richiede coraggio, onestà e la meta-abilità della comunicazione con gentilezza amorevole. Queste conversazioni tendono a suscitare forti sentimenti di disagio, rabbia, dolore e ansia, mentre molti di noi preferiscono tacere, evitare tutti insieme l’argomento, e altri tendono a minimizzarne l’importanza e l’impatto.

Esploreremo alcuni termini e componenti educativi necessari quando si parla di razza e razzismo, nonché il ruolo che la socializzazione gioca in queste dinamiche.

CROSSING THE BOUNDARIES OF RACE AND SELF: Challenging the dynamics of racism and being able to let go of power

Issues of diversity, inclusion and exclusion are very present for all of us in our socio-cultural and political contexts. We all belong to a wide variety of social groups relating to race, gender, sexuality, class, age, educational background etc. In all of these groups we can see patterns of Power, Oppression and Privilege. Dynamics of unconscious use of Power if not addressed, become part of our everyday interactions and a process of external and internal oppression becomes active in our relationships. One of the reasons why Racism is a painful and difficult subject to engage with is because it carries within historical issues such as slavery, colonialism and different interracial conflicts accumulated over time. We need to be willing to go beyond our comfort zones and learn to hold racial tension in a safe space. Come and let’s co-create the space together! And remember that it may not be comfortable but we are all needed in the journey of learning to live well with one another.

In this Experiential Training we will focus on Race being aware that many other forms of oppression can be seen through the lens of racisms.

Welcoming and being part of conversations on race between us requires Courage, Honesty and the meta-skill of Loving Kindness communication. These conversations tend to bring up strong feelings of discomfort, anger, pain and anxiety, while so many of us prefer to be silent, avoid the topic altogether while others of us tend to minimise its importance and impact.

We will explore some terms and educational components needed when talking about Race and Racism as well as the role that socialisation plays in these dynamics.
