Adesso no è la collettiva a cura di Bruno Barsanti e Gabriele Tosi, con Lorenzo Lunghi, Cecilia Mentasti, Amitai Romm, Elisa Strinna, Evita Vasiljeva e – per la prima volta esposti in Italia – Jason Hendrik Hansma e Kristoffer Kjærskov.

Un inusuale passaggio nel basement costituisce un collegamento alternativo tra la strada e il cortile di Manifattura Tabacchi. Il percorso attraversa un grande vano tecnico in cui corrono tubature, cavi e canaline. Sottoterra, dove lo smartphone potrebbe perdere segnale, Adesso no si configura come un’esperienza di riorientamento. Il meccanismo attivato dalla mostra intende allontanare il pubblico dalle ‘certezze’ del presente e condurlo in territori propri dell’inconscio e dell’ignoto.

A questo scopo, Adesso No raccoglie video, installazioni, sculture e interventi site specific che evocano una potenziale disconnessione dalle infrastrutture che regolano il nostro tempo nel segno dell’efficienza e dell’ottimizzazione. Impiegando diverse strategie – sabotaggio, dissimulazione, sublimazione, meditazione – i sette artisti coinvolti scollegano manufatti e dispositivi dalle reti comunicative primarie del sistema-presente per ricalibrarli su frequenze e segnali nascosti.

Adesso No [whatever, not now] is the collective exhibition curated by Bruno Barsanti and Gabriele Tosi, with Lorenzo Lunghi, Cecilia Mentasti, Amitai Romm, Elisa Strinna, Evita Vasiljeva – and for the first time exhibited in Italy – Jason Hendrik Hansma and Kristoffer Kjærskov.

An unusual basement passageway provides an alternate route connecting the street to the courtyard inside Manifattura Tabacchi. The route crosses a large technical room which is run through by pipes, cables and wire ducts. Down there, where smartphones might lose signal, we can see Adesso no take on the experience of reorientation. The mechanism activated by the exhibition intends to distance spectators from the ‘certainties’ of the present time and lead them to the realm of the subconscious and the unknown.

To this end, Adesso no is a collection of videos, installations, sculptures and site specific interventions staging a potential disconnect from the infrastructures that govern our times in the name of efficiency and optimisation. By implementing different strategies — sabotage, dissemblance, sublimation and meditation — the seven artists involved decouple thoughts, objects and devices from the main present-system communication networks and recalibrate them to hidden frequencies and signals.
