Dettagli evento

I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas.

I'm frightened of the old ones”.

John Cage

How cities are boosting social innovation? What are the emerging strategies and policies?

Cities are going through a transition phase and social innovation is one of the main results. Citizens are finding new ways to answer their own social needs. These solutions are often more efficient ways to tackle problems traditionally considered as public services. When government and local administrators are recognising social innovation as valuable asset, they have to go through a change of paradigm in understanding what is their role in a framework in which people are coming up with better ideas and take their own situation to hand as real protagonists of the system. In reinventing their role, public administrations are finding their path in tackling ways to encourage, develop and sustain social innovation.

Each city has its own character; geographical position, history and culture make it unique. Different cities are therefore developing strategies that may get inspiration from other contexts but are as unique and specific as the city itself. BoostInno european project aim is to connect different cities in order for each one to develop an integrated action plan for social innovation. This event is a rare occasion to get to know 10 different approaches.

During the evening, each city will present shortly its strategy to allow an european overview. City representatives will then be available to exchange information and network with the other members and the general public.
