Coexist is deeply intrigued by the diverse forms of relationships that have emerged since the onset of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. While automated cars and robots initially captured our attention, recent developments have introduced more surprising and dynamic interactions with machines. We have witnessed bots evolving into virtual companions and robots forging meaningful connections with children and the elderly. The "metaverse," which bridges virtual and mixed realities, is creating novel ways to interact across digital and physical spaces. The collaboration between humans and large language models showcases a new kind of creativity, where both entities actively contribute and language becomes a pivotal element. People are now able to manage and physically alter things through brain implant devices. Human behavior patterns are in constant flux; as we become accustomed to technology, our expectations grow, while technology itself offers convenience in our daily lives and workplaces.
At the upcoming Human and Machine Relationships event, we will explore the cutting edge of these interactions. Is "interaction" the right word to describe this context, or are we truly cultivating relationships with machines? How can we, as humans, and AI, as machines, be accountable for fostering sustainable relationships?
