Event description

A MilanoR meeting is an occasion to bring together R users in the Milano area to share knowledge and experiences. The meeting is a free event, open to everybody.

The meeting consists of two R talks and a free buffet + networking time.

This time we want to focus on a specific topic: data visualization with R.

  • Welcome presentation

  • Dataviz with R: past, present and future by MilanoR

  • How to build a color palette from any image with R and k-means algo by Andrea Cirillo

  • Ligthning talks (5 min each):

  • ------ From modelling to visualization by Stefano Biffani

  • ------ Mapping data with R by Stefano Barberis

  • ------ Interactive plots with Highchart by Nicola Pesenti

  • ------ Shiny in a Data Science app lifecycle by Moreno Riccardi

  • Free refreshment & networking time

What's the price?

The event is free and open to everybody. Due to logistic reasons, the meeting is open to max 70 participants, and registration is needed.

Where is it?

Mikamai - Via Venini 42, Milano. Mikamai is a coworking very close to the Pasteur metro station.

The doorbell is Mikamai: when you enter, go straight, cross the inner courtyard of the building, you will face a metal door with a sheet with Mikamai written. The office is the last (and only) floor.

------ FAQ

Uhm, this MilanoR meeting looks different from the others.. How does it work?

We design this MilanoR meeting in order to explore the R dataviz world as widely as possible.

Ideally, the meeting is divided in three half an hour blocks:

From about 19:00 to 19:30 we will have welcome presentations and a first introduction to the R dataviz world.

From about 19:30 to 20:00 Andrea Cirillo will introduce the package paletteR, going deeper into a new tool for dataviz (and showing how everyone can extend the R capabilities in every field).

From 20:00 to 20:30 we’ll see a roundup of examples that complete our exploration of the R data visualization world: from modeling to interactive dashboard, we’ll see how R is used in the “real” world.

Then, as always, free food and chat!
