Event Details

ET1 - Grain size prediction in extrusion: myths and facts.

Description:

Prediction of final microstructure in aluminum-extruded profiles is gathering a wider attention in relation to strict requirements of automotive, transportation and other critical applications. The presentation will cover the basic of grain evolution, the most recent publications on the subject and the state of the art of FEM simulation capabilities.

Ideal roles interested in this speech:

Extrusion and process manager, quality manager, project manager, R&D manager, technical manager, sales manager.

THIS SEMINAR IS PERFECT IF YOU WANT ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS:

  1. Can my company produce a profile with microstructure requirements?
  2. Why extruded profiles sometimes exhibit abnormal grain growth or peripheral grain coarsening (PCG)?
  3. Which kind of knowledge do I need to be competitive in transportation sector?

THIS SEMINAR WILL ALLOW YOU TO:

  1. Acquire or refresh the basic mechanism of grain evolution in aluminum extrusion.
  2. Gain an overview of the state of the art of the research in the field.
  3. Understand what can be provided by a FEM code or by a skilled die maker.
